Flood Season is Upon Us: Are You Prepared to Weather the Storm?

SHARE THIS ARTICLE:

Season thunderstorms during the summer months can cause heavy rain and severe flooding. In the event of a flood, your National Flood Insurance Policy (NFIP) covers most physical damage and losses to your personal and/or commercial property.

But there are some things that your policy doesn’t always cover such as fences, walkways, and swimming pools. Did you know that there may also be coverage limitations on crawl spaces and walk-out basements?

Flooding also doesn’t need to be catastrophic to be considered a flood. As Personal Lines Manager, Jessica Entwistle explains, “If surface water overwhelms the street and your property, it can be determined a flood.”

With flood season upon us, make sure you have the proper amount of coverage for your home or business. We love this NFIP document that quickly summarizes flood coverage. Or, give us a ring today to make sure you’re properly protected!
