New OSHA Reporting Standard

Q: What is the new OSHA reporting standard? How does it affect my company?

A: Effective Jan 1, 2024, a new OSHA reporting standard went into effect. The new rule applies to companies with 100 to 249 employees in certain higher risk industries. These companies have until March 2nd, 2024 to electronically submit information from their OSHA logs to OSHA. The North American Industry Classification System codes (NAICS) for the industries covered by the new rule are listed on the attached Excel file labeled appendix B.

OHSA has established a secure website called the Injury Tracking Application (ITA). The site and additional information and tutorials on record keeping and reporting can be accessed at osha.gov/injuryreporting.
