Q: Now that Families First Coronavirus Relief Act (FFCRA) is in effect, what do I need to do?

A: You should let your active employees know of their rights under the law today or as soon as possible by posting the FFCRA Poster at your work sites with other required federal notices. Until an employer is able to physically post the notice, an employer may satisfy this requirement by:

  • emailing the notice to employees
  • direct mailing the notice to employees
  • posting the notice on an employee information internal or external website

We would like to remind employers that the sick paid leave entitlement is for two weeks regular pay (capped at 80 hours). On the FFCRA Frequently Asked Questions section of the DOL’s website, questions 5, 6 and 7 help employers understand how to administer the sick pay portion of the law. For employees who normally work less than 40 hours per week, you are only required to pay them for the average number of hours they work during a two week period.
